Still using original machinery from 1922, Nutscene produce their range of jute twines in Angus, Scotland. Known for the original patented “pull from centre spool” developed for tangle-free ease of use, today the company continue to develop new tools and accessories to make twine more convenient to use, such as the now iconic ‘Tin of’ Twine™’. Nutscene’s eclectic range of practical gifts utilises renewable and recyclable natural materials where possible, their most sustainable material being the jute twine itself. The Jute plant (Corchorus capsularis) matures quickly without the need of fertilisers, pesticides or irrigation, thriving on natural rainfall. The fibre it produces is 100% biodegradable and recyclable.
